A couple of weeks into Season 12, it's pretty obvious the old pecking order is gone. The Lord of Hatred expansion didn't just add another class and call it a day. It changed how the whole game feels once you hit Torment 4 and start testing real endgame builds. If you've been grinding hard, you've probably seen the same thing I have: Paladin is everywhere, and for good reason. For players trying to smooth out that early push, some even look to buy D4 Gold so they can get straight into the builds that are actually working instead of wasting nights on dead-end setups.


Why Paladin Is Running the Show
Paladin isn't just strong. It's easy to make strong, which matters more than people admit. Wing Strikes has become the farm build a lot of players fall back on because it barely asks anything from you once the loop gets going. You dash in, delete packs, keep moving, and somehow your resources still feel fine. Then there's Shield of Retribution for Pit pushing, and that build is just rude. You soak damage, hit back harder, and stay alive through mistakes that would kill most other classes. That's the big thing this season. Paladin gives you room to mess up and still clear hard content.


The Classes Still Holding Up
That said, it's not like every non-Paladin class fell apart. Spiritborn still feels great, especially if you care more about pace than hype. Quill Volley clears the screen fast and has that smooth, no-fuss rhythm that makes long sessions easier to stomach. Necromancer is in a really healthy spot too. Affliction builds level absurdly fast, and that hasn't gone unnoticed. If your goal is getting to endgame without dragging through the midgame, Necro's one of the safest picks on the board. Minion setups are still around as well, and they're perfect for those nights when you just want to farm without sweating every pull.


Where Things Start Getting Awkward
Sorcerer and Rogue can still look amazing on paper, but they ask for a lot more from the player and the gear. Chain Lightning absolutely slaps when it's set up right, though it can feel rough before that point. Miss a few key affixes, fall short on energy generation, and the whole build starts to stutter. Rogue has a similar issue with Dance of Knives. It's flashy, quick, fun to watch, all that. But if your gear's behind, you feel it instantly. Barbarian has it worse. There are moments where it can still function, sure, but compared with what the top classes are doing, it feels like way too much effort for too little payoff.


What Actually Matters In Season 12
The players making real progress right now aren't only following tier lists. They're paying attention to breakpoints, cooldown windows, and how Bloodstained Sigils change the value of certain stats. That's where Pit progression starts to open up. Once you get past the easy clears, small stat differences stop being small. And yeah, the item grind can get old fast. That's partly why some players check U4GM for currency or gear support when RNG starts wasting too much of their time. Still, the best class for you is the one that feels natural in your hands, because no so-called meta pick is worth much if logging in starts to feel like a chore.
